Just Phil is Phil Shackleton’s unsupported Tour de France challenge. Phil will ride every stage and every transfer of the 2026 Tour de France route – nearly 6,000km from Barcelona to Paris – raising funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK.

Phil’s mum has always been his quiet inspiration, strong, kind, and endlessly supportive in everything he’s ever taken on. Watching her face the challenges of Alzheimer’s has given this ride a much deeper meaning. What began as a personal test of endurance has become a way to give something back, to turn something incredibly tough into something hopeful. By riding for Alzheimer’s Research UK, Phil is honouring his mum in the most fitting way he knows how: with determination, heart, and a refusal to give up.

It feels strange writing this. For months, this project has lived quietly in spreadsheets, route maps and a handful of conversations. It’s been an idea I’ve carried around in my head. Today, it’s public.

The JUST PHIL RIDE is live.

In just 5 months, I’ll ride the entire 2026 Tour de France route — every stage and every transfer — completely solo and unsupported. Nearly 6,000 kilometres in around 25 days. No team cars. No support crew. Just me and the road.

GOING LIVE WITH this website feels almost as significant as rolling out of Barcelona will. Because this is the moment it becomes real.

In 2026, Phil will take on the full Tour de France route completely unsupported; no team car, no mechanics, no Support. Just Phil. He’ll ride every stage, plus every transfer in between, covering ALMOST 6,000km of mountains, cobbles, valleys and brutal weather, powered only by grit and determination.

He’s doing it for a cause close to his heart. Every kilometre, every climb, every lonely stretch of road is to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK, turning an extraordinary challenge into hope for millions.
